Dear Episcopal Families and Friends,
If you are reading this letter, you are a treasured member of the Episcopal community. In my seven years here, I have had the privilege to work with you and many others toward renewal and strength of the school. Our caring for Episcopal is shared by many in this community, built up over the last 50 years and counting.
The school’s great work is reflected in the preparation of thousands of students for college and for purposeful lives, in accordance with the school’s mission and ministry. The education and development fostered on Woodland Ridge Boulevard have brought joy and meaningfulness to so many. The school’s special work continues today with great vigor.
Two years ago, the Board determined the school was in a healthy position to launch a campaign for capital to construct needed facilities. The first phase of the Capital Campaign, ran more or less in a “silent” phase, resulted in the renovation of The Lewis Family Memorial Chapel of the Good Shepherd. Completed in the last few months, donors contributed cash and made pledges covering the entire cost of the Chapel renovation. I hope you will come and see the sustained beauty and character of the Chapel.
Now, donations in support of our new 27,000 square foot academic building – the Academic Commons – are being sought. Several compelling giving opportunities are available for donors at a range of commitment levels. Construction began in the last week of May with well over half of the total project costs in hand. The donated cash and pledges were raised quietly as we worked to repair our other facilities following the flood.
We are now excited to reveal the Capital Campaign to families and friends of the Episcopal community to raise the remainder of the building costs during construction. With good fortune, we will cut the ribbon for the Academic Commons at a grand opening in the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.
Episcopal’s reputation depends on its academic leadership in the Baton Rouge area and its continuation of compelling and innovative teaching methods. This building is the first investment in an academic asset at the school in over a decade. We invite you to rally around and participate in this important new investment in our school.
Should you wish to learn more about the many ways in which you can support Episcopal, it would be my pleasure to arrange a meeting for you with the members of our team.
Sincerely,
Hugh M. McIntosh
Head of School
